Literacy Enrichment - St Peter at Gowts
This is a selection of photos from a project I have been doing for the last year at St. Peter at Gowts. During this year I have worked with every year group to enhance their literacy skills. There are several areas which the teachers have asked me to incoporate into my project.
Years 3 and 4
I was hired to help years 3 and 4 with their creative writing and to help them create a show based around vikings. Using a series of six workshops the stories were created. These were then put inside a framework that I had devised to help them develop their stories into a continuous story. This show included multimedia based elements to help the storyline flow. This was similar to a project i had completed with years 5 the previous year based around a story that they wanted to create.
Murder Mystery
Ever wanted your classroom to become a police detection agency. Well lucky for you there has been a murder afoot. Our trained practitioners will come in and lead a two hour workshop which will allow your children to use their logic and observational skills to solve the murder at Lockley manor.
During this session they will undergo different tasks:
- Puzzle Letters
- Fingerprint analysis
- Schedule analysis (is someone where they shouldn't be?)
- Poision detection
All of this plus you will be able to talk to the characters themselves as you have the chance to hotseat the characters and question them about their motives.
All of this is tied together using videos and practitioner interaction. A great fun morning for children.
